Life’s a Beach is owned and run by Gavin, Steve and their family and was one of the first local homestays. It has been welcoming people with a chilled out attitude and lust for life from all over the world and all walks of life since 2014. Guests can expect a warm welcome a laid back style and a super friendly chilled atmosphere.

Perched on a hill amongst the jungle and rocks overlooking a deserted beach it feels a world away from anywhere – especially the hustle and bustle of Vietnam’s cities. Rooms are simple but offer some of the comforts you are used to at home such as Wi-Fi, comfy beds, fluffy towels, hot showers, unlimited drinking water and everything you need to make your stay a great one – whether that’s being a beach bum, having a romantic night on your balcony, immersing yourself in the local life or making new friends and joining the fun in the bar.

Dotted amongst the trees you will find an option for every budget from a dorm, glamping style tents and rustic bamboo huts to air conditioned beach front bungalows with balconies and stunning views.

Days are super chilled spent swimming, sunbathing, or chilling in a hammock with an ice cold beer or cocktail. If chilling is not your style, no worries, there are plenty of options including, motorbike rental, board games, boat trips, snorkeling, fishing, beach ball, pool competitions, bar games, big screen movies, book exchange, cooking classes, kayaking and tours. Nights are centered around our bar where you will discover what Life’s a Beach is really about. It’s made for people that like sharing experiences and having fun and has everything you would expect and more including nightly entertainment and promotions, communal meals such as BBQ, Mexican and Family style dinners and an a-la-carte mix of local and foreign favorites available all day, every day.

Things to Note

1. Check in Time: 14:00-22:00
– After 10pm there may be no English speakers working.

2. Check out Time: before 12:00
– We do need to ensure that the rooms can be ready for the following guests so your help in vacating your room on time is appreciated. You do not need to leave the premises at midday – you are welcome to stay for the day.

3. Both cash and credit card payments (3% charge) are acceptable upon check in at the property
– we may contact you to request full payment prior to arrival.

4. You must provide a valid passport and visa or TRC upon arrival
– you will not be allowed to stay without this.

5. Often people book with us for one night, only to be disappointed to find that we are fully booked the following day. Most of our guests stay, on average, for 3 – 4 days so please let us know in plenty of time if you would like to extend your initial booking.

6. When booking please confirm your approximate arrival time and if you need any help to get here.

7. We do not allow outside food or drink to be consumed inside.

We are Gavin and Steve. We first arrived in Vietnam near the end of 2013 whilst travelling through South East Asia. We opened Life’s a Beach the following year and never dreamed of running a place like this but we couldn’t contemplate leaving our new found paradise – we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Our place is aimed at a certain kind of traveller. Our guests tend to be intrepid travellers looking for a special experience that is so rare today. If you are an adventurous soul who values meeting great people and having real experiences over resort style accommodation with formal service, you’ll fit right in. We provide a great environment and everything you could need for an amazing stay but you get out what you put in. There are so many unique opportunities to be had but you have to come with an open mind and be willing to go out and make them happen.

The area is not developed for tourists so you won’t find your home comforts in the local shops – there is no 7-11 nearby! Life is a lot slower and simpler here and everyone is very laid back. One of the downsides to this is that things can often take longer than you might expect. Things that you may take for granted at home are a luxury here – for example, running water, electricity and WiFi. Whilst we make every effort to ensure that these things are provided, if you are the type of traveller that cannot live without these luxuries then this is probably not the place for you.

We would like to be upfront that this is not a budget backpackers hostel. For the area, we are priced at the mid range. Every night is different and is normally dictated by the guests and the atmosphere they create. We can offer karaoke, BBQ, games, DJ and movie nights but we are certainly not a party hostel.
